Domaine Christian Binner, Alsace Grand Cru Kaefferkopf 2015, Vendanges Tardives, Gewurztraminer - 0,75L
Kaefferkopf was classified as a Grand Cru of Alsace in 2007. The typicality of the soils (deep and heavy carbonated granite and sandstone) and the South-East exposure make it an exceptional terroir.
Christian Binner's estate operates 3 parcels on Kaefferkopf.
This gewurztraminer reveals ripe yellow fruits: plum, apricot, mirabelle plum with a mineral touch. One does not feel the heaviness since a very pleasant acidulous touch appears at the end of the mouth.
The winegrowing origins of the Binner family go back to the 1770s.
The Christian Binner estate began a new life when Christian moved to the domain in the 2000s: purchase of new parcels, organic certification, biodynamic viticulture, new cellars, etc.
The vineyard is certified organic and has been cultivated biodynamically for many years. The grapes are harvested at over-ripeness and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The wines are then matured on fine lees, mainly in 100 year old foudres and in barrels for 11 to 36 months.
At the time of bottling, no sulfites are added and the wines are not filtered. They are marketed about 3 years after bottling so that they are perfect!
