The Château Léoville Las Cases was founded in 1638. It was divided into 3 properties following the French Revolution: Léoville Las Cases, Léoville Barton and Léoville-Poyferré. The 3 chateaux are part of the 1855 classification and are classified as second growths.
Today, Léoville Las Cases covers 97 hectares of vines on gravelly soil.
