Chapelle d'Ausone 2011, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru - 0,75L
This cuvée is a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
It reveals a fine and elegant nose of fruit and tertiary aromas (undergrowth and truffle). In the mouth, the attack is quite powerful but still subtle. Spicy notes that complement the fruit. The finish is silky and fresh. A real delicacy.
Chateau Ausone is one of the oldest chateaux in Saint-Emilion since its origins date back to 1592. Since 1974, the Vauthier family has been running the prestigious property, a Premier Grand Cru Classé A.
The vines, which are 50 years old on average, are ideally located at mid-slope. Very few bottles are produced each year, the production of the château is very limited, keeping only the best of an already moderate yield.
The wines of Château d'Ausone are fine and elegant and reveal a very beautiful fruit.
La Chapelle d'Ausone, the second wine of the property, is treated with the same care as the grand vin, but the blends are different: more Merlot which brings elegance and fruity notes.
