Domaine du Clos des Fées, Côtes du Roussillon Villages, La Petite Sibérie 2008 - 0,75L
La Petite Sibérie is a small plot of 1.16 hectares. The old Grenache noir vines grow on clay-limestone soils and are exposed to a very cold wind more than 200 days a year, hence the name of the cuvée: La Petite Sibérie.
The 2008 vintage is certainly the most successful vintage for this mythical wine.
The nose is very concentrated, precise and straightforward with crushed black berries and spices. In the mouth, the tannins are perfectly melted. Very nice balance between fruits and notes of undergrowth.
A great wine that can age for another 15 years.
Le Clos des Fées is an emblematic estate in Roussillon, directed by Hervé Bizeul. Initially a sommelier (elected Best Young Sommelier of France at the age of 21) and then a journalist, Hervé Bizeul decided at the end of the 1990s to launch himself as a winemaker.
He settled in the Agly valley in Vingrau, in the Côtes du Roussillon Villages appellation and cultivated 5 grape varieties: grenache, carignan, syrah, mourvèdre and lladoner pelut.
The 30 hectares of vines are surrounded by stone walls and divided into 112 plots. The soils and the exposure of the parcels give grapes with different maturities. The wines of the Domaine du Clos des Fées are a reference in the Roussillon. The wines have become a must, acclaimed all over the world, both for their quality and their consistency.
