Klein Constantia, Vin De Constance 2018 - 0,5L

Klein Constantia, Vin De Constance 2018 - 0,5L

The Vin de Constance is made from late harvested Muscat de Frontignan grapes. The grapes dry on the vines and concentrate in sugar. The grapes are then harvested by hand and macerated and fermented in different batches in order to achieve a perfect sugar/acidity/alcohol balance. Nicknamed "African gold", it is aged for 40 months in 500 liter barrels.

The ageing potential of Vin de Constance is exceptional: between 150 and 210 years. The wine keeps all its freshness and acidity. The elaboration of this sweet wine is extremely meticulous.

The 2018 vintage combines fruity and floral notes, peach and citrus in particular. We finish on notes of spices and ginger. The smoothness in the mouth is incredible.

Klein Constantia is a South African winery that makes some of the most prestigious sweet wines (Vin de Constance) in the world. Constantia Wine is one of only three wines in the southern hemisphere to be listed among the "44 greatest wines of the world".

The historic estate was founded in 1685 by the Cape Governor Simon Van Der Stel. The 146 hectare vineyard is planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat de Frontignan, Chardonnay, Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon.

In 1980, when Duggie Jooste bought Klein Constantia, the estate was given a new lease of life. Many changes and improvements took place. In 2011, the estate was sold to Czech-American investor Zdenek Bakala and British businessman Charles Harman.

In June 2012, famous Bordeaux wine personalities Bruno Prats and Hubert de Boüard merged their Stellenbosch-based "Anwilka" farm with Klein Constantia to further elevate the quality and reputation of Klein Constantia and its wines.
