Adrien Berlioz, Savoie Chignin-Bergeron, Cuvée Grand Zeph 2021 - 0,75L
This Chignin Bergeron from Cellier des Cray is a 100% roussanne (called bergeron in Savoie). The vines face south and are planted on steep hillsides.
Zeph is a tribute to Adrien's grandfather. A great man who gave birth to a great wine with a remarkable minerality.
On the nose, the wine expresses all the complexity of its terroir by combining notes of ripe yellow fruit, touches of dried fruit and floral hints. In the mouth, a very nice balance between freshness and minerality.
Adrien Berlioz, cousin of Gilles Berlioz (Domaine Partagé) settled in 2006 in Chignin, Savoie, where he founded the Cellier des Cray. The first years, he cultivates the vines he inherited from his family. Then the vineyard extends to make today 5,5 hectares, composed of 13 plots.
The Savoyard grape varieties (mondeuse, persan, douce noire, bergeron jacquère, altesse and malvoisie) are cultivated on clay-limestone soils and the slopes can reach 50%. Hand work is greatly favored in this estate certified in Organic and Biodynamic Agriculture since 2012.
In the cellars, human intervention is minimized: action of indigenous yeasts, harvest more or less destemmed, maturing in demi-muids from Ganevat, little sulfites.
The wines of the Cellier des Cray are pure and elegant. Great wines of Savoy!
