Jean-Baptiste Aréna, Patrimonio, Grotte Di Sole rouge 2018 - 0,75L
Grotte di Sole red 2018 is made from 25-year-old niellucciu vines planted on clay-limestone soils. Fermentation is carried out in concrete tanks and the wine is then aged 18 months also in concrete tanks.
A delicious red with Mediterranean aromas: black fruits, garrigue, thyme, etc. In the mouth, this wine is fresh with a structuring acidity. The tannins will soften with time.
La Revue du Vin de France: 16,5/20
Guide Vert 2020: "Sapid and fresh, sprinkled with small tannins, the red Grotte di Sole relies on a contained sap: a little severe at this stage, it will relax with ageing."
Elder son of Antoine Aréna, Jean-Baptiste Aréna exploits the Grotte di Sole terroir. His father's vineyards were divided between the two brothers: Jean-Baptiste and Antoine-Marie who continue to work together since all the wines are vinified at the family estate.
Jean-Baptiste continues his father's philosophy of biodynamic and non-interventionist practices both in the vineyard and in the winery.
The wines have their own style, which is defined by a particular attention to maturity.
