Domaine Barge, Côte-Rôtie "Côte Blonde" 2016 - 0,75L

The Côte Blonde is a south and south-east facing hillside planted by the Barge family in 1947 and 1952. The vines are grown in organic agriculture.

This cuvée is composed of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier. The wine is aged for 24 to 28 months in 600-liter demi-muids.

The notes of violets, black fruits and spices are reminiscent of the terroir of the Côte Blonde. On the palate, this Côte-Rôtie is very harmonious, the tannins are well melted.

We recommend opening the bottle 2 hours before serving.

Formerly named Domaine Gilles Barge, since 2019 it bears the name of Julien Barge, son of Gilles and Alice. Julien favors responsible agriculture: he has stopped using sulfur in the white wines and has also eliminated weed killers from the vineyard. As he says, "we need an agricultural method that respects and intervenes without destroying. Plants, animals form the balance of things. We must maintain them."

The family estate includes 8 hectares (5.70 hectares of Côte-rôtie, 1 hectare of Condrieu and 1.50 hectares of Saint-Joseph). Syrah, the majority grape variety, thrives on the steep hills.

The wines of Domaine Barge are superb. Not to be missed!
