M. Chapoutier, Ermitage rouge "Le Meal" 2016 - 0,75L
Sélections Parcellaires are the most accurate "photograph" of a terroir. The Ermitage range of the Maison Chapoutier is special.
The Hermitage hillside hides a treasure. It is the only appellation in the world that contains all four geological ages: from primary to quaternary. Aware of this capital, Michel Chapoutier wanted to isolate the grapes from these terroirs with such expressive geological characteristics.
The fifty-year-old Syrah vines of Le Méal are located on the slope of Le Méal. The soils are composed of rolled pebbles and clays.
The 2016 Méal offers a nose with aromas of ripe black fruits and a hint of smoke. In the mouth, the wine is powerful, then velvety and silky. The tannins are present and will melt with the years. A great wine to keep.
Chapoutier is an unavoidable name in the field of wine. Present in Tain-L'Hermitage since 1808, the Chapoutier House gathers the greatest vintages of the Rhône Valley. Its parcel selections, especially in the Ermitage appellation, are largely responsible for its remarkable reputation.
The vineyard extends over 350 hectares cultivated according to biodynamic methods. The grapes are harvested at full maturity, often a few days later than in other wineries in the region.
Today, the Maison Michel Chapoutier extends beyond the Rhone Valley: Roussillon, Provence, Burgundy, but also abroad: Portugal, Spain, Australia.
