It was bottled in December 2019.

The Port Ellen distillery is located in Port Ellen, on the island of Islay, Scotland. It was created in 1825. After a first closure in 1930 when it was owned by the Distillers Company Limited, it reopened and then closed permanently in 1983 due to an excessive supply of peated whisky and a lack of interest in single malt.

The stocks are now owned by Diageo.

"Casks of Distinction" is a program set up by Diageo that consists of a private sale of individual casks of rare and exceptional Single Malt Scotch Whisky from their vast stocks in Scotland. Hand-selected by a team of whisky experts, under the direction of Master Blender Dr. Craig Wilson, each cask is entirely unique and incredibly rare.

Each "Cask of Distinction" is chosen for its quality and represents the most exceptional and unique expression of the distillery's character.
