The Kilchoman distillery is located on the island of Islay, Scotland. It was founded in 2005 and the first single malt that came out of it dates from 2009.
The iodine notes are well present in the whiskies because of the proximity with the sea and the sea spray. Kilchoman is one of the few to produce its own malt. The Port Ellen distillery provides the majority of the barley but Kilchoman grows the 100 tons needed to produce the "100% Islay" range.
