Michel Couvreur Special Vatting is a peated blended malt, made from a blend of three single malts over 12 years of age aged in three different types of casks. The first one aged in ex pedro ximenez sherry cask, the second in oloroso sherry cask and the third in amantillado sherry cask. It is a richly peaty and slightly iodized whisky.

A great success!

Michel Couvreur is an independent bottler based in Burgundy, in Bouze-lès-Beaune. After a period in Scotland to learn the whisky making process, he returned to France and specialized in aging in sherry and port casks.

He passed away un 2013. His daughter and her husband, now run the company with the help of Jean Arnaud, cellar master, with great enthusiasm. The particularity: the distilleries are not mentioned on the bottles. Michel Couvreur estimated that "90% of the quality of a whisky comes from the barrel and only 10% from the distillation process".

Michel Couvreur whiskies are of a very high quality with a lot of roundness and balance.
