Domaine Olivier Merlin, Saint-Véran "la Côte Rotie" 2019 - 0,75L
Côte-Rotie is a parcel located in the commune of Davayé and taken over by Théo and Paul Merlin at the end of 2017. The Chardonnay vines are planted in stony soils at an altitude of 350 meters and are aerated by the Mistral wind that blows regularly.
The grapes are harvested at full maturity. The wine is then aged for 12 months in barrels and 2-3 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
This Saint-Véran has aromas of ripe stone fruits: apricot and peach. A nice volume in the mouth which is accompanied by a mineral touch that comes to balance the whole.
The Olivier Merlin estate is located in the village of La Roche-Vineuse, at the foot of the Mâcon rocks, in southern Burgundy.
Corinne and Olivier Merlin started by renting vines at the end of the 80s. In 2006, they bought 2 hectares in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, to which they added 9 hectares in 2017, in the Saint-Véran, Mâcon and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations. That same year, Théo and Paul joined their parents in the vineyard.
The perennial management of the vineyard as well as the artisanal work are the priorities of the Merlin family.
4 adjectives define the wines: balance, purity, depth and harmony.
