Domaine Ostertag, Alsace, les Aventures De L'agneau Masqué tome 3 : le grand bain - 0,75L
This cuvée from Domaine Ostertag with a strange name is in fact an experiment around the Alsatian grape variety, gewurztraminer.
In the 1990's, André Ostertag, had launched a range of experimental wines with the objective of elaborating a dry, lively and greedy gewurztraminer. The different volumes represent the different ways of thinking about this grape variety.
Volume 3 is a blend of gewurztraminer with 20% pinot gris and a touch of riesling and sylvaner. The grapes macerate for a few days, which gives the wine its orange color. It is then aged for 9 months on lees and bottled without filtration.
The result: a wine that fulfills the given objective, dry, aromatic with floral and spicy notes with always a great greediness.
The Domaine Ostertag is located in the Bas-Rhin, in Epfig. It was founded in 1966 by Adolphe Ostertag, who was a driving school teacher and winegrower in his spare time. His son, André, joined the estate in 1980. The wines of Domaine Ostertag then began to stand out and the estate became a reference in Alsace.
Today, Arthur, Adolphe's grandson, is at the head of the 15 hectare estate. The vines are cultivated organically and biodynamically. In the cellars, human intervention is limited.
The Domaine Ostertag is rated 3 stars out of 3 by the Revue du Vin de France.
