Domaine de Juchepie, Anjou blanc, Le Paradis de Juchepie 2019 - 0,75L
The 2019 Paradis de Juchepie is made from Chenin grapes. The vines are between 60 and 100 years old and are biodynamically farmed.
Fermentation was done with indigenous yeasts and the wine was aged for 1 year in new and used French oak barrels.
It is a surprising and original dry white wine, with a great complexity on the nose where stone and exotic fruits, cooked apple, white flowers, honey, fennel and subtle menthol notes are mixed. On the palate, it is ample, ripe, creamy, with a pleasant slightly smoky aftertaste and a very long mineral finish.
Eddy and Mileine Oosterlinck-Bracke bought in 1985 a house in "Juchepie", a hillock in the heart of the Coteaux du Layon, at the top of a hillside planted with old vines. This house was supposed to be their second home.
Quickly, Eddy and Mileine wanted to exploit the small vineyard of 0,35 hectare bordering their house. In 2001, the year Eddy blew out his 50th birthday, they gave up their hardware store to become winemakers.
The estate now has 7.5 hectares, 85% of which are Chenin Blanc and 15% Cabernet Franc. The vines are cultivated according to biodynamic principles and have been certified Biodyvin since 2007.
The Belgian couple produces generous sweet white wines, colored coteaux-du-layon and some dry white wines from the same terroirs.
