Alex Foillard, Côte De Brouilly 2018 - 0,75L
The Gamay vines are planted on sand, schist and granite soils. They are exposed to the north which allows the grapes to keep their acidity.
The vinification is done according to the Beaujolais method with a short carbonic maceration. This method allows to obtain a very tasty juice.
A super fresh and elegant gamay.
If the name sounds familiar, it's because Alex is the son of the famous Beaujolais winemaker Jean Foillard. It was in 2016 that Alex decided to break free and create his own domain, after buying a hectare of Brouilly and a hectare of Côte de Brouilly.
After studying at the general agricultural school in Montpellier and a BTS viti-œno in Beaune, alternating at the Domaine Prieuré-Roch in Nuits-Saint-Georges, he flies to Australia and then to Japan where he follows vinifications.
In his domain, Alex follows his father's philosophy: a lot of work in the vineyards and little intervention in the cellars to reveal the terroir.
Alex's wines are just like his father's: fruit bombs, typical of Beaujolais. Bravo Alex !
